High School Transitional Programs

Typically, high schools have very limited budgets. Additional funding for college safety programs is non-existent. Ideally, any high school wishing to schedule a college safety program should be able to do so at a minimal cost, or no cost at all. High school transitional programs are an ideal opportunity for Corporate Sponsored safety presentations.

Each year millions of high school students graduate and transition from high school to college. Although a wonderful time in their young adult life, incoming college freshman face challenges and dangers that were not present in high school. Educating high school students about campus safety prior to arriving on campus is an enormous benefit. By being proactive about safety, students are better prepared should an unforeseen event occur.

Typical presentations are between 45 - 60 minutes in length. Due to high school class schedules, programs are tailored according to the individual school. Parents and members of the community are encouraged to attend. The media is always welcome! Having media personal in attendance is a wonderful opportunity for the school to highlight its ongoing commitment to student safety. The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism reported the following:

• 1,700 college students die each each year from alcohol related injuries.
• 97,000 college students are victims of alcohol related sexual assault or date rape each year.
• 696,000 college students are assaulted by another student who has been drinking.
• 599,000 college students are untentionally injured under the influence of alcohol.
• 400,000 college students have unprotected sex. 
• 100,000 college students report having been too intoxicated to know if they consented to having sex.
